Martin Clee
DIRECTOR OF SCIENCE
Martin joined Together Learning Trust as Curriculum Leader for Science at Honley High School in June 2021, his third lead Science role. He is passionate about developing a first class science education for all students at all levels and strongly believe it is his moral purpose as an educator to deliver the absolute best every single day for the young people in my charge.
Martin is fascinated by cognitive science and the pervasive way it shapes everything we do as educators, from the way we design our curriculum to the way we deliver our lessons. He is extremely interested in the nature and role of assessment within the curriculum and how we use it to inform our future teaching.
Curriculum is the cornerstone of what we do and a key way we ensure that every student gets the absolute best every single day. As a SLE for science Martin worked supporting primary colleagues with science knowledge and strives to use this knowledge of the KS1/KS2 curriculum to build on the primary science in secondary school. He believes a cohesive, well planned and well delivered curriculum is the best way to ensure positive engagement in science and to increase the proportion of young people taking science to the next level.
Alongside this Martin passionately believes in the power of well researched and well thought through teaching practices that maximise our effectiveness in the classroom. The power of expert instruction means a well trained teacher with a wealth of experience and a range of expert pedagogical tools at their disposal can have an incredible impact on a young persons future.
As an educator Martin sees collaboration at the heart of everything that we do. We achieve so much more together to realise our common goals of Grow, Excel and Learn.
