Jonathan began working for Hays Education in 2005 after spending 10 years working in the retail travel industry for Thomas Cook. He was tasked with setting up and developing a bespoke permanent recruitment solution for schools which rolled out across West Yorkshire to primary, secondary, independent and special schools in 2007, managed by a dedicated team of consultants, supported by education compliance administrators. He is now in his 17th year working for Hays Education, holding the role of Senior Business Director, leading their education business across the north of England.

Up until January 2020 Jonathan held the role of governor at a large two form inner city primary school in Bradford, with the last 5 years as Chair of Governors. During this time, he gained extensive experience supporting the Headteacher and SLT through three Ofsted inspections, worked through two staff re-structures and an academy conversion. The school was ‘double RI’ and there was a huge amount of pressure to move to a MAT. This presented a number of challenges and experiences that eventually saw the school convert last September. Jonathan has also spent a short time as a Trustee on a newly formed MAT in Bradford in 2017.  He loves working in the education sector and seeing from both a commercial and governance aspect the immense task of leading a successful school and trust.
